Beards Hide Antibiotics (due to be Produced by approximately 100 Microbes) and Can Be Good for Your Health

Beard facts

Published on Jan 20, 2016 A test of beards found that some bacteria species can produce natural antibiotics living on men’s faces.

Information about Beard from Moslem Youtuber (or Dakwah Account)— biar ada perbandingan informasi yang dipaparkan hhe..:

Beard Health Benefits – Must See

Terdapat jurnalnya:

Bacterial ecology of hospital workers’ facial hair: a cross-sectional study.

Kutipan review dari Having a beard might actually be good for your health:

“Researchers swabbed the faces of 408 male hospital workers in two teaching hospitals, and compared the prevalence of certain bacteria found on bearded and clean-shaven cheeks.

‘Our study suggests that facial hair does not increase the overall risk of bacterial colonisation compared to clean-shaven control subjects,’ the survey says. ‘Clean-shaven control subjects exhibited higher rates of colonisation with certain bacterial species.’

Yep. Those with baby soft shaved chins were three times more likely to be carrying harmful bacteria — including Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, known as MRSA — than their hirsute co-workers.

But how can this be?

The study has one explanation, which is that when you shave, you cause ‘microtrauma to the skin,’ resulting in abrasions, which could support bacterial colonisation. Nice.

Others, however, believe it could go further than that – beards may even be able to fight infection.

The guys at BBC Two’s Trust Me, I’m a Doctor recently decided to swab the beards of a variety of men and send the samples to Dr. Adam Roberts, a microbiologist at University College London, for analysis.

Roberts grew more than 100 different bacteria from the beard samples, but found that, in some of the of the petri dishes, something was killing the other bacteria. That something, said Dr Roberts, had antibiotic properties. He cautiously confirmed that there may ‘possibly’ be antibodies in beards that can fight infection.

In other words, put down that razor, and bring out the glitter. The beard is back.”

The last statement seems funny hehe.. 😀
